emergency.lu was showcased at the Innovation Fair of this year’s ECOSOC High-Level Segment in Geneva (1st to 3rd July), as part of a stand presenting the World Food Programme’s innovative solutions and partnerships.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited the stand after the opening ceremony on 1st July and received explanations from Ambassador Jean-Marc Hoscheit, Luxembourg's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva. The World Food Programme was represented by Thomas Yanga, Permanent Representative in New York, Pierre-Guillaume Wielezynski, Deputy Director for Information Technologies and Martin Kristensson, Emergency IT Coordinator. A RAPID deployment kit composed of a NOSACO terminal and a GATR inflatable satellite antenna was exhibited.
On 2nd July, the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Food Programme co-hosted a side-event “Delivering Together: Humanitarian response, technology and innovation’ with panellists from the United Nations (OCHA, WFP), government (Luxembourg) and the private sector (Hitec Luxembourg and Ericsson).
